Simon Unwin claimed in his Analysis Architecture that there were two original models for all buildings—temple and cottage. One response to manpower, abstract, form, and timeless, while the other nature, concrete, function and evolution. If any architecture can been classified into these two models more or less, then what would be come out if combining the two models in one single building?
The artist house test the relationships between the two --- the individual studio regarded as “the temple” floating the ground with abstract steel structure while the living units regarded as “the cottage” with slope entrance, the free degree walls and roof within the structure. They temple is independent but embraced by the cottage，while the glass box above the main entrance can be thought as the new birth from the two. Thus, the masterpiece should and could be created in a common life.
